Amber Sutliff, M.Ed - Primary Therapist

Amber Sutliff is a registered mental health counseling intern for the state of Florida. She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Florida Atlantic University. Amber focuses on relationship dynamics, both past and present, to inform insight into one’s behaviors, as well as one’s perception of the world around them. She believes that building and fostering a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation of genuine change.

Amber has a background in working with individuals dealing with eating disorders, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders. Amber’s modality is trauma-focused. She emphasizes the power that the past has over the subconscious, which leads to impulsivity and increased shame and guilt. Amber believes this is especially true for those who have a history of trauma. She uses a psychodynamic approach to fully understand the client for what they have experienced and how those experiences may have helped shape the individual’s present thoughts and behavior. Amber strives to help her clients face these past experiences so that the shame and guilt can be overcome, and the client can be empowered to embrace acceptance and move forward with increased self-awareness and a realistic perception of oneself.
